The Otafest Team proudly presents this year's gameshows! Come join in on the fun as we make 2009 the best Otafest celebration yet!

(new!) ART Battle
In the heat of the moment, under intense pressures, some of the world’s most beautiful art is created. ART Battle is a new gameshow whereby we take some of Calgary’s best starving artists and pit them against each other in a series of short challenges to see who can emerge with the most creative pieces!
(new!) Boom Desu ka?! A Japanese-Style Gameshow
We’ve seen how funky some gameshows on Japanese television can be, so it was only a matter of time before Otafest tried it’s hand at one of these shows! ‘Boom!’ is a fast paced gameshow where audience contestants participate in fast challenges inspired by various Asian gameshows for prizes! Come check it out!
(new!) Otafest Tactics
A brand new gameshow developed for Otafest 2009, Otafest Tactics incorporating folk’s favorite aspects of Battle Action RPG and Anime Chess – the fights! Half strategy driven and half mad mock-battling, you’ll need both your brains and your sense of dramatic flair to come out on top for Otafest Tactics!

It’s the 404’s signature Saturday time fun show – hilarious improve action with a gameshow twist! This show has consistently left a trail of split sides and uproarious laughter! Be sure not to miss it!
Anime Variety Gameshows!
We’ve taken the lifeblood of day time television and redone them, anime style! Anime variety gameshows is a series of your favorite gameshows, with a twist! In the past, we’ve had Anime Jeopardy, Anime Feud, Anime Match Game and Anime Guess Who! This year, our line up will include:
  • Anime Edge
    • Yes! It is back! The wildest, wackiest gameshow where anything can happen and the rules are always changing. The one gameshow you won't want to miss, like MXC without the painful neck trauma. Come on out and we'll introduce you to the Anime EDGE.
  • Anime Feud
    • Name a gameshow that challenges you and your friends to name the top responses to survey questions. Survey Says: Anime Feud. An annual gameshow classic that always entertains. Bring out your friends, take your opponent's challenge and begin the Anime Feud!
  • Anime Guess Who
    • The hit gameshow of 2008 returns in 2009 with Anime Guess Who. The gameshow based off the board game you probably had as a child. Only this one features your favorite anime characters on two gigantic game boards. It just doesn't get much better.
  • Anime Jeopardy
    • Challenging answers and questions unknown. Anime Jeopardy is sure to challenge any Otaku. With new categories and a wide array of questions, Can you rise to be the 2009 Anime Jeopardy Champion? Come and find out.
  • Anime – Match Game
    • Join us for another round of the gameshow that has left a trail of split seams and howling laughter over the last three years. Come to Anime Match Game - where we’re not sure whether our panel of contestants are here to win the game, or just drive our host bonkers!
  • Anime – Name that Tune
    • At some point in time, we all have that ridiculously catchy anime opening stuck in our heads. I could even arguably say that more often than not, we have a ridiculously catchy anime opening stuck in our heads. Now’s the time to turn that anime music knowledge into prizes – at Anime Name That Tune!
  • Anime – Name that Tune – Delux Advance Monster Edition
    • So you’ve had fun with name that tune, but *really* want to be challenged? Then the DAME show is for you! We’ve dug up some of the most obsure songs to ever grace any playlist to give you the ultimate name that tune challenge!
  • Anime Super Password
    • Awesome. Code. Otafest. Clues. What does it all add up to? The return of Anime Super Password. A fun clue breaker gameshow with lots of fun challenges. Guess the clues, solve the passwords, and figure out the Super Password.
  • Anime Talk About
    • o Think you know everything about Anime? The series, the characters, plotline, even those ridiculous little facts that no one knows? We're going to give you and a friend a chance to show it off with new Anime Talk About. Where you'll have just 20 seconds to show us how much you know about a topic. So come on out and see what's the new Anime Talk About.
Contestants of all ages are welcomed!
AMV Gameshow
Join in the fun as contestants battle it out for prizes and glory as they must answer as many questions as they can in a limited time about AMVs that will be shown! Game play is based on a cool original concept with pieces from other well known game shows thrown it. Even if your part of the audience, you'll get to watch some very fun and entertaining Anime Music Videos and even help of the contests at times! Contestants will be chosen from the audience based on questions asked about an AMV that will be played at the beginning. No AMV or creator experience required; just a keen eye and good memory!
Battle Action RPG
The perennial Sunday night favourite returns! Otafest is pleased to present BATTLE ACTION RPG – A costume wearing, attack name shouting, live action role playing game in which the audience determines the hit points, surprise attacks can upset even the most obvious of winners, and no one leaves with their eardrums in tact!
Lego Robot Wars
Lego!! Giant Robots!! Lego!! Giant Robots!! Like peanut butter and jelly, we bring together two elements that have been screaming to be brought together since the beginning of time in one galactic showdown! Bring your blueprints and back-stories, and compete against other teams in the Lego Robot Building Competition!
