Cosplay Fashion Show

Let's celebrate how you embody your character. We're looking for the accuracy, the attitude, and the confidence that makes a character truly come to life. This is your stage to own.

Ideation Room 1 (Registration); Main Events Room (Contest)

Have your moment in the spotlight in the Cosplay Fashion Show!

This is more than a walk-on, you will have 30 seconds (it’s more time than you think!) to command the stage. Move to the marked spots, striking a series of poses for the judges and cameras. It’s a true test of poise and character portrayal, challenging you to embody your cosplay’s essence from every angle.

Eligibility

In order to participate in the Cosplay Fashion Show, there are certain requirements and guidelines you must follow:

  • You must be in cosplay and strike a pose at each posing point on the stage (practice your poses!).
  • You don't need to have made your own cosplay.
  • There is no performance component to this contest.
  • Sign up in person on the day of the contest. Note: We cannot accept new entrants after the cut-off time. No exceptions.
  • Space is limited so please arrive early for registration. If the contest reaches capacity, we will cap registration and no further entries will be accepted. Show up early if participating is important to you.
  • Staff and Volunteers may not participate if they have a shift that overlaps with the contest or with check-in.

Format

Registering

First things first, check the schedule for the registration time and location for the Fashion Show. When you register, we’ll give you a unique entry number, your category, and your call time.

Call time

At the call time, about 30 minutes before the show, we’ll meet you at the Main Events room to check you in and get you lined up with everyone in your category. You’ll be placed in order with your group (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced), and that’s the order you’ll be heading onto the stage in!

Your time to shine

Once the show begins, the host will introduce you by name and character. This is your cue to hit the stage! You’ll have about 30 seconds total to show off your cosplay by striking a few poses on the marked spots on the stage. That’s 30 seconds for the entire walk, not at each point. After your big moment, you’ll exit the stage and return to the waiting line in the same order as before.

The grand finale

After everyone in a category has had their individual time on stage, the entire category group will come back out for a final walk-through. This is where our judges will present the awards for your category. Once all the awards have been given out, we’ll give the audience an opportunity to take photos of the entire group, then you’ll leave the stage and we’ll do the exact same thing for the next category!

There is no pre-registration for this event. You’ll need to register at Otafest itself following the instructions above, in the “format” section of this page!
